This postgraduate program under semester system is designed with a view to imparting to the students an advanced knowledge in
Hadith Literature, one of the main sources of Classical Hadith Literature. The course gives much emphasis to the detailed study of the History and Development of Hadith, Important compilers and Narrators of the Hadith, their authentic works and its influences in the development of Arabic Literature, etc. Due importance is given in the syllabi to the contribution of Indian scholars to the Hadith Literature Adequate of Importance in also given to the study of the scholars of Hadith in the modern period.

Entry requirements

B.A Fazeela of Jamia Nadwiyya or B.A Afzalul ulama of Calicut University or an equivalent degree with Arabic as one of the main subjects recognized by Jamia Nadwiyya. Admission to the course shall be made in the order of merit at the entrance examination.


Course Content

Out line of courses (papers) : 4 courses in each semester. Besides These courses, there will be one dissertation/ Project, and a comprehensive viva- voce at the end of the last semester.

Scheme of evaluation : Evaluation of all semester courses will be done in two parts; continuous internal assessment and external assessment. 20% marks will be set apart for continuous internal assessment and 80% marks for external assessment. The entire course will have a maximum of 1750 marks

Class sizes are not too big, making it easier for you to take part in class discussions and get to know other students.

Career opportunities

The skills learned in this programme, including directed thinking, clear argument and an ability to work in a group, will prepare you for many different careers. A popular career choice is teaching, but the range of other careers that our graduates have entered is enormous, and is not only restricted to religious organisations, but has also included journalism, the legal profession, business, social work, personnel management and many others. A few of the students opt for PG Programmes at JNE or other Universities/Colleges inside or outside India.
