This post graduate program is designed with a view to impart the students an advanced knowledge in Islamic studies. The Syllabus of this course is prepared has to provide students with thorough knowledge in history, philosophy, political theory, sociology, Islamic economics etc. If it is thought and studied properly, the following objectives will be achieved:

  • To give students a clearer vision of the philosophy behind the emergence and spread of Islam as well as the characteristic features of Muslim society.
  • To give students a fair insight into political theory and governance.
  • To give students a sufficient knowledge of the discipline of sociology.
  • To give students a thorough knowledge of traditional as well as Islamic economics.
  • To train students in Computer Application and enhance their knowledge of English.


Entry requirements

B.A Fazeela of Jamia Nadwiyya or B.A Afzalul ulama of Calicut University or an equivalent degree with Arabic as one of the main subjects recognized by Jamia Nadwiyya. Admission to the course shall be made in the order of merit at the entrance examination.


Course Content

Out line of courses (papers) : 4 courses in each semester. Besides These courses, there will be one dissertation/ Project, and a comprehensive viva- voce at the end of the last semester.

Scheme of evaluation : Evaluation of all semester courses will be done in two parts; continuous internal assessment and external assessment. 20% marks will be set apart for continuous internal assessment and 80% marks for external assessment. The entire course will have a maximum of 1750 marks

We are keen to use a range of teaching and learning methods to help you get the most out of your studies – including presentations, discussions, language laboratory, ArabSat, EduSat and exercises on the internet. Class sizes are not too big, making it easier for you to take part in class discussions and get to know other students.

Career opportunities

The skills learned in this programme, including directed thinking, clear argument and an ability to work in a group, will prepare you for many different careers. A popular career choice is teaching, but the range of other careers that our graduates have entered is enormous, and is not only restricted to religious organisations, but has also included journalism, the legal profession, business, social work, personnel management and many others. A few of the students opt for PG Programmes at JNE or other Universities/Colleges inside or outside India.
