The basic aim of this course is to empower the students with the ability of speaking, writing and communicating in spoken as well as written Arabic. Therefore under this course modern forms of social interactions in different situation are to be taught with language practice. This post graduate program in Functional Arabic under semester system is designed with a view to imparting the students an advanced knowledge in Arabic with emphasis on the teaching and the practical training in the functional use of Arabic as a modern living Language. The practical aspects of the Arabic Language as translation (both theory and Practice), modern terminology and applied grammar are given due importance in the syllabus. As for the language and literature its modern branches such as fiction, short story, drama and modern poetry have been given adequate representation. In order to acquaint the students with the fundamentals of the Computer application of the Arabic software has also been included in the syllabus. Thus the program has been so designed as to serve not only as a scholastic and literary course, but also as a modern and practically oriented course in a comprehensive way. This will help the students to achieve a level of excellence and bring them at par with the student of other foreign languages. This will open the door of employment to the students of commercial Arabic


Entry requirements

B.A Fazeela of Jamia Nadwiyya or B.A Afzalul ulama of Calicut University or an equivalent degree with Arabic as one of the main subjects recognized by Jamia Nadwiyya. Admission to the course shall be made in the order of merit at the entrance examination.


Course Content

Out line of courses (papers) : 4 courses in each semester. Besides These courses, there will be one dissertation/ Project, and a comprehensive viva- voce at the end of the last semester.

Scheme of evaluation : Evaluation of all semester courses will be done in two parts; continuous internal assessment and external assessment. 20% marks will be set apart for continuous internal assessment and 80% marks for external assessment. The entire course will have a maximum of 1750 marks

Class sizes are not too big, making it easier for you to take part in class discussions and get to know other students.

The skills learned in this programme, including directed thinking, clear argument and an ability to work in a group, will prepare you for many different careers. A popular career choice is teaching, but the range of other careers that our graduates have entered is enormous, and is not only restricted to religious organisations, but has also included journalism, the legal profession, business, social work, personnel management and many others. A few of the students opt for PG Programmes at JNE or other Universities/Colleges inside or outside India.
